WHAT IS IT THEN?
Mongan Method HypnoBirthing® is as much a philosophy as it is a technique. The method teaches you that, in the absence of fear and tension, or special medical circumstances, severe pain does not have to be an accompaniment of labor.
HypnoBirthing® is founded on the belief that babies should be born in a calm, loving, respected environment and that when a mother is prepared and supported physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, birth is instinctive.

THE PHYSIOLOGY OF BIRTH
Discover the medical reason why birth is NOT meant to be painful. HypnoBirthing® gives mothers the tools they need to take their bodies to a place free of fear and anxiety where birth hormones are released optimally and birthing muscles can operate in harmony-as they were designed to. The birthing body and the baby know just what to do.
Mongan Method HypnoBirthing® is designed to teach women to trust in nature's way of birth and to relax and let their bodies do what is needed. You will learn how to achieve relaxation and you will learn to use your natural birthing instincts for a calm, serene and comfortable birth.
You will learn a number of techniques to take yourself into deep relaxation so your body shifts easily out of fight or flight mode - which inhibits labor and leads to pain - and into healing mode - a state where our body produces the endorphins and oxytocin essential for birth.
Hypnosis is similar to meditation, however, it focuses on a specific outcome and/or goal, and in this case it would be to eliminate fear and replace it with a complete confidence in yourself and your body's ability to birth as nature intended. When you have your baby with HypnoBirthing®, you will not be in a trance. What you will experience is similar to the daydreaming, or focusing, that occurs when you are engrossed in a book, movie or staring into a fire.
Hypnosis for birthing can help you achieve an ultimate depth of relaxation so that the body is loose and limp, and the birthing muscles, free of tension, can function as they are created to function. The mind can be a powerful tool.
Positive affirmations, can help you stay present and aware of the outcome you desire. When the mind is in a positive state the body responds accordingly. A positive and negative thought cannot occupy the mind at the same time
Visualization of the birth you desire can greatly affect the outcome. By focusing your attention and energy on what you do want rather than on what you do not want, you eliminate the presence of fear which causes tension and pain in the body.
HypnoBirthing mothers learn breathing that calms the body, brings optimal oxygen to the baby during labor and supports the body’s natural expulsive reflex so that forced pushing is not required. Our birth breathing techniques not only save a mother’s precious energy, they help prevent fetal distress, damage to the pelvic floor and reduce chances of perineal damage.
Most women today bring an army tank of anxiety to their births. Fast-paced living has their bodies in almost constant adrenaline mode, and their subconscious minds are tightly packed with horror stories from friends and movies. The result is bodies that find it difficult to kick into the very thing nature designed it to do. The aim of HypnoBirthing® is to help moms release those negative images and anxieties and replace them with realistic positive ones that will enable their bodies to relax and get on with the beautiful business of birth.

What Hypnobirthing isn't
It is not birthing through mind control. You will neither be be hypnotized nor entranced, and you will not be asleep. Instead, you are in a deep, self-induced state of relaxation, very much conscious and aware of what you are experiencing.
